Gary Cuccio was appointed chairman and has served on our Board since March 2003. Since founding the firm in February 2002, Mr. Cuccio has served as president of Cuccio Consulting, a management consulting firm. From 2007 to 2008, he served as operating partner of TeleSoft Partners, a venture capital firm focused on hightech and energy value chain companies. From 2002 to 2003, Mr. Cuccio served as chief executive officer of Advanced Telcom Group, Inc., a fixed-line telephone company. Prior to that, he served as chief executive officer of LHS Group, Inc., a billing software supplier to wireless and wireline carriers, from 1999 to 2000. From 1998 to 1999, Mr. Cuccio served as president of AirTouch Paging, a wireless service provider. From 1996 to 1998, Mr. Cuccio served as chief operating officer of Omnipoint, Inc., a personal communications services mobile wireless carrier. Mr. Cuccio currently serves on the board of directors of mBlox, a mobile transaction network. Mr. Cuccio holds an M.B.A. from St. Mary’s College of California and a B.A. in Political Science from California State University, Los Angeles.
Simon Cassif has served on our Board since January 2004. He has been serving as director and sole owner of SilverLeaf Inc., a consultancy firm, since 2004 and as a partner in AfterDox, an investment group focused on information and telecommunications-related start-ups, since 2005. From 1997 to 2003, Mr. Cassif served as president of Amdocs Europe, a provider of business support systems, operational support systems and service delivery to communications service providers. Prior to that, Mr. Cassif held a number of senior management positions at Amdocs, including senior vice president, from 1994 to 1996. Mr. Cassif also held various positions at Bezeq – The Israeli Telecommunication Group, Ltd., an Israeli telecommunications provider, including chief information officer and vice president and customer service executive, from 1975 to 1993. Mr. Cassif holds an M.S. in Operations Research from Technion, Israel Technology Institute and a B.S. in Industrial and Management Engineering from Technion, Israel Technology Institute.
Niall Norton, Chief Executive Officer
Niall Norton has been our Chief Executive Officer since September 2006 and has served on our Board since 2004 and as a company director since 2006. Between 2004 and 2006, Mr. Norton was our Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining us, he was Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary of Telefónica Ireland from 2001 to 2004. While at Telefónica Ireland, Mr. Norton was responsible for financial control functions, business process re-design, strategy planning and the wholesale business. Mr. Norton is a director of all Openet companies and a director of Poppies Restaurants Limited (a family restaurant business), and Clever Communications Limited, a non-trading company. Mr. Norton holds a degree in Commerce from University College, Dublin and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.
Gerry McCrory has served on our Board since November 2010. Mr. McCrory has served as chief executive officer of The Crucible Corporation, an early-stage venture capital fund co-founded by Mr. McCrory, since 1998. Mr. McCrory has also served as managing director and partner at Cross Atlantic Capital Partners LLC, a laterstage venture capital fund also founded by Mr. McCrory, since 1999. Prior to this, Mr. McCrory served as the Managing Director at Cambridge Technology Partners, Ireland, a consultancy and provider of IT solutions, from 1997 to 1998. Mr. McCrory also founded Information Mosaic Ltd., a software services company and served as chief operating officer from 1995 to 1997. From 1990 to 1995, Mr. McCrory held several senior positions at S.A., a French global information technology services company. Mr. McCrory currently serves on the board of directors of The Crucible Corporation, Cross Atlantic Capital Partners LLC and GAIN Capital Holdings, Inc., a provider of online trading services. Mr. McCrory is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, holds a B.Sc. in Economics from the University of Ulster, a Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting from Queens University of Belfast and an M.B.A. from University College, Dublin.
Joe Hogan, Founder, CTO and VP Openet Labs and IP Management
Joe Hogan is Openet's founder and has been our Chief Technology Officer since 1999 and has served on our Board since 2002. Mr. Hogan is the principle architect of Openet’s products and has over 25 years of software engineering experience. Prior to joining us, Mr. Hogan was a Senior Architect at Sun Microsystems, Inc. from 1993 to 1998. Mr. Hogan is current responsible for technology innovation in the company with oversight of Openet’s IP office and Openet Labs. Mr. Hogan holds a B.S. in Computer Applications, Dublin City University.
Barry Maloney has served on our Board since November 2001. Since founding the firm in 2000, Mr. Maloney has been a general partner of Balderton Capital, a venture capital firm. From 1996 to 2000, Mr. Maloney was chief executive officer of Esat Digifone Limited, which was subsequently acquired by Telefónica Ireland. Prior to this, Mr. Maloney held a number of senior management positions at Xerox Corporation from 1994 to 1996 and Digital Equipment Corporation from 1987 to 1994. Mr. Maloney is currently on the board of directors of Balderton Capital Investments Limited and certain affiliated entities as well as the board of directors of Socowave Limited, a wireless systems company; Globoforce Limited, a provider of strategic employee recognition reward solutions; SCVNGR, Inc., a provider of social location-based gaming for mobile phones; WeeWorld, Inc. and WeeWorld Limited, a social networking site; 3V Transaction Services Limited, a payment platform; RebTel Owners AB, an independent mobile voice-over IP company; Touch Local Limited, a provider of Internet services for small businesses; Videopolis.com S.A. (TV Trip), a hotel content internet business; and Intune Networks Limited, a telecommunications equipment design company. Mr. Maloney is also a director of Mount Falcon Estate Management Company Limited and Mount Falcon Residential Management Company Limited, a hotel and country house based in the West of Ireland. Mr. Maloney holds a B.A. in Economics from University College, Dublin.
James W. Morentz has served on our Board since July 2009. Dr. Morentz has served as Homeland Security Technology Consultant of Science Applications International Corporation, or SAIC, a provider of scientific, engineering, systems integration and technical services and solutions, since 2008. Dr. Morentz has also served as founder and principal of JWMorentz LLC, a technology and business consulting firm, since 2008. Dr. Morentz has also served as senior homeland security advisor of Homeland Security Advisor, a geospatial analytics firm,
since 2008. Dr. Morentz has also served as a member of the business advisory board of Alpha Omega Technologies, Inc., a provider of new chromatography instruments and related accessories for laboratories, since 2010. Dr. Morentz has also served as a principal of National Security Associates Worldwide, a provider of national security and business consulting services, since 2011. In 2011, Dr. Morentz served as a consultant for Intergraph Corporation, a provider of engineering and geospacial software. From 2009 to 2010, Dr. Morentz served as the U.S. liaison and technical advisor for Public Security Innovation Center, providing an independent and open platform for technologies in public security. From 2002 to 2008, Dr. Morentz served as vice president of SAIC. From 2003 to 2007, Dr. Morentz served as director of SAIC’s Public Safety Integration Center. From 1997 to 2002, Dr. Morentz served as chief executive officer of Essential Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of health, safety, environmental and emergency management software. Dr. Morentz holds a Ph.D. and an M.A. in Communications, Technology and International Affairs from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. in International Relations from American University, School of International Service.
